Vancouver movers, from the West End to East Van
Shiraz Moving Co. is a family-owned BC moving company serving every Vancouver neighbourhood: downtown towers, Kitsilano character houses, East Van walk-ups and everything in between.
Every part of the city moves differently. Tell us the building, the floor and the parking situation when we call, and we'll lock in your price on the call.
Moving in Vancouver: what we plan for
- Downtown, Yaletown, Coal Harbour and the West End are mostly high-rise strata buildings, so elevator bookings, loading bays and set move windows come first.
- Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, Grandview-Woodland and the West End also have older walk-ups and character houses with narrow stairs.
- Many houses have a basement suite or a laneway home with its own side or lane access.
- Dense streets mean the truck's parking spot matters, so it's planned before the day.
- Crossings set the timing: the Lions Gate and Second Narrows bridges to the North Shore, and the Oak Street, Knight Street and Arthur Laing bridges toward Richmond.

Reserving parking for the moving truck
On busy streets, the easiest move is the one with a saved spot. A City of Vancouver temporary street occupancy permit lets you reserve parking spaces or meters for a moving truck, and the City's moving guide puts it about a week before moving day.
Condo buildings often have a loading bay instead, so check with your building first. Either way, tell us where the truck will park when we call.

Moving in Vancouver: common questions
Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Vancouver?
Not always, but on busy streets it helps. The City of Vancouver issues temporary street occupancy permits that reserve parking spaces or meters for a moving truck. Condo buildings often have a loading bay instead, so check with your building.
Do you move condos in downtown Vancouver?
Yes. Downtown, West End and Yaletown moves revolve around elevator bookings and loading bays; see condo & apartment moving for how we plan them.
Can you move me from Vancouver to the North Shore or Burnaby?
Yes. We move across Metro Vancouver, including North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond.
What's the easiest time to book a Vancouver move?
Mid-month weekdays are usually the easiest to book. The end of the month and weekends fill up first, because that's when most leases turn over.
